Friends are like trees, if you set them on fire, they burn quite easily. Alright, let’s try that again, friends are like plants, you need to water them to keep them growing. Better? Good. Yes, friends are indeed hard to keep, and relationships are even harder to maintain. As hard as trying to balance three eggs on your nose while doing a one leg stand and yodeling. However, true friends are always there for you.

By the way, how do we decide who is a good friend, for example, is that one who will go out of their way to cheer you up if you are feeling down, or will that person come to your aid if you are attacked by twelve hungry monkeys demanding a ransom for crossing their territory or perhaps, it is someone that will not let you do stupid things, alone. In any case, a friend is someone indeed who will do all of these things unconditionally, and will never mention that one time when you had to do the pants-down shuffle when playing the “shotgun” game.

Unfortunately though, it seems like there is a limited source of friends to pick from, because it looks like there is something in the air that changes people completely, from trustworthy companions to first class homicidal maniacs. As if you have eaten the last piece of pie and they have vowed to take revenge by not just eating the last piece of your pie, but rather eating all the pieces of all the food they can find in your fridge, and of course drink you coffee. All it takes is a bad comment about how atrocious their new shoes are, and they turn Hulk faster than the police apprehending you for bad parking.

Cherish your friends and never expect them to know what you want, tell them, they are not mind readers nor are they present to fulfill your every need. Remember, it takes two to tango, and three is a crowd, but friends you can never have too many.
